Truth and Reconciliation Day

By | October 1, 2024

On September 30, we remember the violence that the Canadian Government, as well as the Catholic and Anglican Churches, has committed against the sovereign peoples of North America.

We commit to learning from history –  and make certain that we never forget the actions that have benefitted settlers while causing harm to First Peoples. We commit to accepting responsibility for these actions, done on our behalf, and for not speaking out against these grave injustices. We commit to working toward reconciliation with the Indigenous people of the place we call home.

We affirm the sovereignty of Indigenous peoples all around the world and recognize the harm done through conflict and unjust land practices. We seek to heal the wounds of the past, to correct the wrongs of our ancestors, and to bring reconciliation to us all.
