Former Canadian Foreign Minister Lloyd Axworthy offered criticism of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s ‘jigsaw puzzle’ approach to foreign policy in his recent opinion piece published on September 16 in The Star which is now available on his blog as Canadian Foreign Policy – A Jigsaw Puzzle?
Rather than the ‘new, full foreign policy’ that was promised in the 2025 Liberal election platform, Axworthy points to how Carney’s government is shutting down peacekeeping operations, and failing in its role as a middle power when it comes to environmental issues and international justice, abandoning its responsibilities to Canadians and other nations.
