Yesterday’s webinar with Dennis Howlett, Daniel Komesch, and Toby Sanger covered a lot of ground about the reasons why International Tax Reform is necessary and how it can create opportunities for a fairer global economy.
Daniel’s Inequality Report from Oxfam offered sobering views of the levels of inequality taking place in the world, and the impacts of rampant wealth-hoarding on the part of the billionaire class. Meanwhile, Dennis and Toby outlined some of the actions that organizations such as Canadians for Tax Fairness and the Global Alliance for Tax Justice have taken to try to remedy some of the inequality on a global level and also at home in Canada. Together, we discussed ways that we can advocate for Canada to sign on to the United Nations International Tax Convention.
