Jim Stanford: More than one way to measure the efficacy of the Cuban economy

On March 23rd, Canadian economist and author Jim Stanford’s latest post to Rabble.ca emphatically stated “The US narrative about the Cuban economy doesn’t stand-up to scrutiny when you take a look at Cuba’s Gross National Income and Human Development Index.”

Stanford’s article discredits U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s claim that “Cuba’s economy doesn’t work.” Examining GNI and HDI, Stanford compares Cuba’s economic efficacy not only in relation to the USA and Canada, but also to other Caribbean and Central American nations.
