The past year was one of global distruption and new threats to Canadian sovereignty. The Group of 78 worked hard to meet the moment. In his Chair’s Report for 2025, G78 Chair Ted Jackson looks back on a productive year that saw the Group call on the Prime Minister to work for peace in Gaza and Ukraine, consult Indigenous communities on major resource projects, and support citizen action to move away from, not toward, fossil fuels. Our 2025 policy conference engaged with an array of new ideas for redefining development, including mobilizing AI and innovative finance and renovating the Sustainable Development Goals. Looking ahead, G78’s 2026 policy conference will focus on critical issues and people-centred strategies for peace and security. And we are planning a rich menu of webinars on leading-edge initiatives on peace, climate and justice. Read the full Chair’s Report for 2025 below.
