“Who put capital in charge?” Harvard economist Dani Rodrik posed this question at our Redefining Development conference in October. On December 23, 2025, the Executive Committee of the Group of 78 gathered in Ottawa to celebrate the many highlights of a very productive year. From advocacy and education on Ukraine and Gaza, citizen action on climate change and Canadian sovereignty, to conference panels on artificial intelligence, innovative finance and the Sustainable Development Goals, 2025 generated important insights and new directions for our work on peace, climate and justice. Plus, the Group raised $4,000 during its inaugural Giving Week earlier this month. As G78 Chair Ted Jackson said: “The new year is shaping up really well.
