Since its origins in 1981, the Group of 78 has promoted dialogue about a progressive Canadian foreign policy, based on the principles of sustainable PEACE through common security, JUSTICE in prosperity, equity, inclusion with diversity, and SURVIVAL of our planet in the face of modern human activity.

The Group of 78 acknowledges we live, work and play on the sacred, ancestral, and unceded territories of many diverse and distinct Indigenous communities, including the Algonquin Anishinaabeg peoples. We recognize the harm that past and present colonial systems perpetrate on this land and its peoples. G78 supports the full implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and looks forward to learning how to live and work in community with Indigenous peoples, councils, and organizations.

Le Groupe des 78 reconnaît que nous vivons, travaillons et jouons sur les territoires sacrés, ancestraux et non cédés de nombreuses communautés autochtones diverses et distinctes, y compris les peuples algonquins et anishinaabeg. Nous reconnaissons les préjudices que les systèmes coloniaux, passés et présents, infligent à ces terres et à leurs peuples. Le G78 soutient la pleine mise en œuvre de la Déclaration des Nations Unies sur les droits des peuples autochtones et souhaite apprendre à vivre et à travailler en communauté avec les peuples, les conseils et les organisations autochtones.
