In a recent opinion piece, Harvard economist Dani Rodrik–a keynote speaker at G78’s upcoming conference on October 10–asks why the rest of the world is permitting the United States, which accounts for only 15% of the world economy, to dictate international terms of trade. No major countries or blocs have called out the Trump administration’s actions for what they are: pure imperiialism. The exception is Brazil under President Lula da Silva.
