Can the United Nations stop Israel’s crimes against humanity in Gaza? In the September 17, 2025 edition of The Hill Times, G78 Chair Ted Jackson and Board member Gord Breedyk make the case that: “Alone or with others, Canada can immediately call on the UN General Assembly to convene an emergency special meeting” where members states would “develop recommendations for appropriate action to stop the killing, destruction, and obstruction of food, water, medicine, shelter, and other relief.” Further, the authors argue, the General Assembly should recommend the deployment of a large-scale, impartial peacekeeping force to Gaza.
