On November 15, G78 Chair Ted Jackson signed the North Coast Protection Declaration so that the Group of 78 can stand in solidarity with the Council of the Haida Nation, the Gitga’at, Haisla, Heiltsuk, Kitasoo Xai’xais, Metlakatla, Old Massett, Skidegate, and Wuikinuxv communities of the Northwest Coast. This declaration, issued by the Coastal First Nations, in collaboration with the Province of British Columbia, calls on the Federal government to uphold and defend Bill C-48 – The Oil Moratorium Act and keep the BC North Coast free from oil tankers.
