A Progressive Canadian Foreign Policy for the 21st Century

Foreign-Policy-Forum-2007

A Forum hosted by the Group of 78
Saturday, 12th May 2007
Cartier Place Suites Hotel
180 Cooper St., Ottawa

The Group of 78 is convening a Forum in Ottawa on May 12thto take stock of some of the key features of Canada’s foreign policy and to examine how civil society, both organizations and individuals, can engage effectively with it. We would like to invite you to be part of that Forum.

At the Forum, we hope to:

  • Identify themes and directions for a progressive Canadian foreign policy now and into the future.
  • Outline means by which Canadians can influence the direction of Canadian foreign policy.
  • Identify ways for civil society organizations to cooperate on foreign policy initiatives.
  • Explore the implications for the Group of 78 itself.

The Group encourages participation from its own membership, from other organizations interested in these issues, and from individuals who wish to be involved in foreign policy.

We see this Forum as an opportunity to share ideas and begin a cooperative process to turn around many of the uncertainties surrounding Canada’s place in the world.
